青色発光ダイオード(青色LED)は、本学の赤 勇特別教授によって1989年に発明されたものであり、先生の指導の下、豊田合成株式会社によって大変明るい青色LEDの開発に成功したものです。引き続き緑色、白色LEDが開発され,信号機や大型ディスプレイ、携帯電話や液晶TVなど世界中で広く使われています。本名大グッズは、その偉大な研究・開発成果を記念して作製されたものです。 |

Blue Light-emitting diode (Blue LED) was invented by Professor Isamu Akasaki
(The University Professor, Nagoya University) using GaN in 1989, and was developed as bright blue LEDs by Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. under the instruction by Professor Akasaki. Based on GaN blue LEDs, Green LEDs and white LEDs were produced, which are used as traffic signals, large-scale displays, mobile phones, LC displays, and many others all over the world.
This item, in which the LEDs are installed, was made to commemorate the great invention and development. |
